Personal trainer in Kensington: one-on-one PT at ACERO
If you're looking for a personal trainer in Kensington, it helps to know what the session actually holds before you commit to one. At ACERO, one-on-one personal training happens on Level 1 at 89 Anzac Parade, in an all-black studio in Sydney's eastern suburbs. Here is what a session involves, who you train with, how the packs work, and where to start.
What a one-on-one session looks like
Each session runs for forty-five minutes. That is enough time to warm up properly, work through the main block for the day, and finish without watching the clock. Your coach arrives with your plan already in hand: what you lifted last time, what moved well, and what needs another look.
For those forty-five minutes the attention is on you. Your coach watches each rep, adjusts the load or your position as you go, and notes what happened so the next session starts from there rather than from scratch. You don't spend the hour deciding which exercise comes next or whether the weight is right. That part is handled.
A typical session includes:
A warm-up matched to the day's work, not a generic routine
The main strength or conditioning block, coached rep by rep
Accessory work for the areas your coach is keeping an eye on
A short cool-down and a word on what comes next session
Over a few weeks, the notes add up to a clear record of how you train: which lifts are moving, which positions still need work, and how your body responds to a heavier week. That record is what lets your coach make small, specific changes instead of guessing.
Who you train with
ACERO coaches work across two tiers, ACERO Gang and Gang+. Both coach one-on-one in the same studio, in the same forty-five-minute format. You can read about each coach on the trainers page before you decide, and the consultation is a good place to talk through which coach suits the way you like to be coached.
Some people like a coach who talks them through every set. Others prefer a few precise cues and quiet in between. It is worth saying which you are early, because it shapes how the session feels as much as the program does.
Sessions with co-founder Jono Castano are by enquiry only and always subject to his availability.
How PT packs work
Personal training at ACERO is sold in packs of 5, 10 or 20 sessions. Packs are transferable across personal training and boxing, so if your week calls for a boxing session in place of a strength session, the same pack covers it. The current options are on the PT packs page.
If you would rather follow a set structure with a start and finish date, ACERO also runs 6- and 12-week programs: three sessions a week, with nutrition coaching and recovery included. You choose how the 24 or 48 sessions are split between training and recovery, so a heavy fortnight can be balanced with a remedial massage or assisted stretching session instead of another lift.
For people who would rather share the session, partner and small group PT follow the same coaching approach with two or more people on the floor together.
Who one-on-one PT suits
One-on-one training suits people who already know roughly what they want from training and want someone paying close attention while they do it. That might look like:
Coming back to lifting after time away and wanting your technique checked
Fitting two or three sessions into a full working week and wanting each one planned
Working towards a specific lift, an event, or a fitness test
Training around an old injury, with a coach who keeps the program sensible
Preferring a focused room and a set appointment to an open gym floor
It also suits people who simply like the structure of a booked time. A 6:30am session with a coach waiting is harder to skip than a plan written in your notes app.
What sits around the session
Training is one part of the week. Some clients pair their sessions with recovery at the studio: remedial massage, percussion massage, assisted stretching, lymphatic drainage massage, or time in the Orans infrared sauna after training. These are booked separately, and your coach can suggest where they fit if you ask.
If you are away for work or living outside Sydney's eastern suburbs for a stretch, virtual PT runs by video with ACERO Gang and Gang+ coaches, so the program does not have to stop when you leave the studio.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a personal training session at ACERO?
Forty-five minutes, one-on-one with your coach. Partner and small group PT are also available if you would rather train with someone you know.
Do I need a certain level of fitness before I start?
No. Your coach starts from where you are on the day, and the first few sessions are as much about learning how you move as about how much you lift. If you have an injury or a medical condition, check with your doctor or physio first and let your coach know before your first session.
Can I use a PT pack for boxing as well?
Yes. Packs of 5, 10 or 20 sessions are transferable across personal training and boxing, so you can mix them through your week however it suits.
Start with a consultation
The first step is the ACERO Consultation: fifteen minutes, in the studio or by video, to talk through how you train now, what you want from it, and which coach and pack fit your week. Book the ACERO Consultation and we will take it from there.
